Since 2017, Ted Bernhardtz has been working with Rema 1000 to develop workwear that meets the demands of a mobile working day in stores and warehouses. Employees are reaching for goods, stocking shelves, receiving deliveries and constantly on the move - meaning a collection that provides comfort, flexibility and durability was needed.
With around 34,000 garments a year, the emphasis has been on finding a flexible solution that works at every stage, from design and production to logistics and warehousing.

Flexibility in Everyday RetailA trouser that adapts
To improve mobility and fit, a new stretch trouser was developed with pre-curved knees and knee protection pockets, specifically designed to cope with the daily workload of store staff. With a new, flexible material and an adjustable trouser length of +5 cm, the stores can now handle fewer sizes, which facilitates both stock management and logistics. – Rema 1000 employees have a very mobile job, and the need for a more flexible trouser was great. We conducted a Wear Trial in a selected store before the first production started, to ensure that the fit and function really met their needs, says Andreas Carlsson, KAM at Ted Bernhardtz.
Outerwear that withstands changes in the weather
In stores and warehouses, goods are handled regardless of the weather, which places high demands on outerwear. To meet this need, a technical parka was developed in a durable, lightweight and flexible material. The garment provides protection against cold, rain and wind, without restricting mobility. – We developed a parka that meets the challenges of working in shops and warehouses. It's both functional and comfortable to wear during long shifts. We also updated the positioning of the logo to strengthen the connection to the brand, says Andreas Carlsson.
Efficient purchasing planning and seamless flow
Rema 1000 sources their garments directly from Ted Bernhardtz's factory and manages their own warehousing in Norway. At the same time, Ted Bernhardtz is responsible for purchasing planning and stock analysis, where we ensure that the right garments are available in the right quantity at the right time. Through a close dialogue and frequent stock updates, the collaboration has developed into an efficient and well-functioning routine. – We have a smooth process where we review needs and make adjustments when necessary. The collaboration works very well, and we have always had an open dialogue about how we can optimise purchasing and deliveries,’ explains Andreas Carlsson.
"We take note of the requests that come in from Rema 1000's stores, and if necessary we make adjustments or develop new garments."
