Behind every successful delivery is a solid chain of collaboration. Our Sales Manager Björn Ödman, along with our team in Dhaka and our reliable long-term logistics partner Postnord, share how a successful partnership ensures high-quality deliveries.
Swift deliveries
Do you want to know more about how your orders make their way from our factory to your doorstep? Join us on a journey through the supply chain, from start to finish.“Collaboration and dialogue with the customer and their input, combined with our experience and forecasting tools, ensure a smooth delivery flow over time.”
The collaboration between the three partners begins with planning at our office in Gothenburg. In close contact with the Dhaka office, the planned collections can be produced and delivered for both inventory and specific customer orders.
Start of the delivery flow
Our Sales Manager Björn Ödman in Gothenburg is just one of the key players in effective production planning. This is where the journey starts for ensuring that the right delivery reaches the recipient on time. – Textile procurement and manufacturing are more complex than many may think. We rely on a large number of subcontractors in terms of weaving, zippers, accessories, sewing, as we’re operating in a global market. Sometimes, we can’t avoid being affected by factors like raw material shortages, disruptions to sea transport, or capacity constraints. At Ted Bernhardtz, we have a significant advantage and security thanks to close dialogue with our procurement office and full control over production in our two large, in-house factories, with which we engage in ongoing production planning. This allows us to tackle most of the challenges we face. Collaboration and dialogue with the customer and their input, combined with our experience and forecasting tools, ensure a smooth delivery flow over time, says Sales Manager Björn Ödman.
Careful preparation
Once the production planning is in place, the factories in Dhaka proceed with production and deliver to high standards. This work involves numerous experienced employees, including Lalindra, who shares their insight into the detailed steps required to achieve the expected results. – Our highly qualified merchandising team has a meticulous overview of production dates, with fixed timeframes for procurement testing and meeting internal deadlines for all fabrics and accessories. At each step, we check for potential delays from our suppliers and ensure that the necessary goods are here in order to meet the planned production start dates. The entire Ted Bernhardtz production chain is focused on quality. With strict quality standards, all checkpoints are adhered to by our experienced teams in each department. This ensures that optimal quality is maintained from the development samples all the way to the final product, says Lalindra.
Ready for transport
Once production has been quality assured, the journey to the storage facilities and the customer awaits. Ransi works in Dhaka and explains how they ensure that the products are delivered in a way that doesn’t compromise the high standards already set. – Each product is carefully packed in individual bags and then placed in boxes at the factory. The boxes are then loaded into containers and transported to the port by truck. There, the containers go through the necessary administrative processes before being loaded onto ships. The finished goods are transported from the factory to Chittagong port. From here, the products are shipped by sea to Colombo or Singapore, where they connect to the mother ship. From the mother ship, the shipment continues to Gothenburg, from where it is then distributed to the Ted Bernhardtz warehouse. Our logistics process ensures that the products reach their destination efficiently and responsibly, says Ransi.
Arrival at Postnord
The partnership with Postnord is crucial to our operations. Postnord is our reliable partner for both inventory and delivery, and this partnership serves as a hub to ensure that our high-quality workwear reaches our customers on time. A logistics manager at PostNord provides a more detailed insight into how the flow works from when the goods arrive to when they’re ready for delivery. – First we receive a notification and all the documentation from Ted Bernhardtz that goods are on their way. We receive the shipment, often a container, sort all cartons and items per purchase order, perform checks and create the delivery in our system. Our and Ted Bernhardtz's systems are fully integrated. After delivery, either further delivery is made to the end customer or, as is usually the case, the garments are placed in their respective storage location for the next, ongoing order picking from the end customer, says Postnord’s logistics manager.
On the way to you
Adhering to Ted Bernhardtz’s high standards throughout the process is important for both us and Postnord as a partner. Postnord’s logistics manager explains that thorough planning and checks ensure that orders reach their final destination efficiently. – We always check quality during picking and ensure at the final pack that the clothes are correct and in good condition before dispatch. The clothes are always stored in a good environment, with regular cleaning and maintenance of aisles and racks. We also have a joint service portal with Ted Bernhardtz where we can track and follow all orders and deliveries sent to the end customer. The majority of our orders arrive at the customer the day after dispatch. – To optimise the flow of the delivery chain, resource and capacity planning is essential. Ongoing planning and follow-ups make things easier. This way, smart strategies together with a strong collaboration between material purchasing and supplier management can better ensure a safe turnover, says Postnord’s logistics manager.
