With ReUse, we offer our customers a circular service that strengthens our comprehensive solution. By integrating reuse directly into our sales offering, we make it easy to extend the life of workwear, from collection and sorting to giving it a new lease of life with the next employee.
Rethinking how to ReUse
Producing new workwear requires large amounts of energy, water and raw materials. At the same time, we see how many garments are still of high quality – but for various reasons are no longer used. For us at Ted Bernhardtz, this was the starting point for an initiative that is changing the way we think about how workwear can be used: ReUse.“A natural step in our sustainability work”
Our sustainability work has always been based on one fundamental idea: to create workwear with a long lifespan. But in order to take responsibility throughout the entire chain, we also needed a solution that would extend the life of garments already in circulation, explains Lina Carlsson, Sustainability Manager, and continues: New production accounts for the largest part of a garment's climate impact. By extending the life of garments that already exist, we reduce both the need for new production and total resource consumption. ReUse saves energy, water and raw materials, but it requires quality. That's why we've built structured processes to ensure that all garments that are reused meet the same standards as new ones.
– We have clear internal processes that ensure that every garment is carefully inspected. Each item undergoes multiple checks to ensure that only items that meet our customers' requirements are reintroduced into the range, says Lina.
For us, circularity is more than just a separate option; it is part of our design philosophy, our business model and our everyday work.
– We design for longevity, repairability and reuse. With ReUse, circularity is not just an ambition – it is a concrete and practical way of working, explains Lina.
Looking ahead, we see a clear direction where cost savings, lower environmental impact and high quality go hand in hand, making ReUse a natural choice.
From gathering to new life
ReUse starts with our customers. When garments are surplus to requirements or when an employee leaves, workwear is collected and sent to our ReUse partner, where the process is as follows: 1. Collection and sorting – each garment is assessed 2. Professional washing – functionality and cleanliness is restored 3. Repair if necessary 4. Quality control and packing 5. Return to our warehouse – where the garments become available for order again Because we design for longevity and durability, our items are well suited for reuse.
Circularity as standard – not an exception
With ReUse, we connect the entire life cycle: from design and production to use and reuse. We make it easier for our customers to achieve their sustainability goals – while reducing climate impact and saving valuable resources.
For us, it is clear that ReUse creates a competitive advantage, and we are ready for the future. We have adapted our design and development processes for circularity and can now offer a comprehensive solution that is perfectly in tune with the times.
“ReUse makes our offering complete”
For our customers, ReUse is a sustainability service and a concrete business advantage. We are seeing rapid growth in demand, both due to stricter regulations and customers' own sustainability goals, says Kristofer Jaldin, Sales Manager, adding: – ReUse is part of our overall offering. We supply both workwear and a smarter and more sustainable way to use it. Reusing garments that have already been purchased also means financial savings. – In addition to lower costs for new purchases, ReUse also offers the opportunity to strengthen your brand. Employees are proud to work for companies that take sustainability seriously.
